The Lifespan of EL Shirt - How Long Do EL Shirts Last?

The lifespan of an Electroluminescent (EL) shirt can vary depending on various factors such as the quality of the shirt, the EL panel or wire used, and how well it is maintained. On average, a well-made EL shirt can last between 3,000 to 6,000 hours of use, which is equivalent to approximately 125 to 250 days of continuous lighting.

However, it's important to note that the EL technology itself does not "burn out" like traditional light bulbs. Instead, the brightness of EL panels tends to decrease gradually over time, until it becomes barely visible. This gradual degradation in brightness is more noticeable after the initial 1,000 hours of use.

To maximize the lifespan of an EL shirt, it's recommended to follow these guidelines:

1. Avoid excessive bending or twisting of the EL panel or wire, as this can damage the internal connections and lead to premature failure.

2. Hand wash the shirt or use a gentle machine wash cycle to minimize stress on the EL components.

3. Let the shirt air dry completely before folding or storing to prevent moisture damage.

4. Avoid exposing the shirt to extreme temperatures or harsh weather conditions.

5. Turn off the EL panels when not in use, as continuous operation will shorten their lifespan.

By taking proper care of your EL shirt, you can ensure that it lasts as long as possible and provides a satisfactory level of illumination throughout its lifespan.
